Randall A. Smith


Mr. Smith functions as a part-time or interim CFO. Through CFO Innovations, he assists companies with all aspects of strategic business planning, forecasting, mergers and acquisitions, fund raising, business restructuring, and preparation for exit strategies. He is an expert in international business, publicly-traded companies and new product introductions.

Mr. Smith originally formed CFO Innovations to conduct a variety of CFO consulting services. He is a veteran of numerous private equity, venture capital and public offerings exceeding $1 billion.

He was Vice President, Finance and Operations for a digital broadcast software designer and equipment manufacturer. Mr. Smith successfully negotiated the sale of the Company to a U.K. based company with over $800 million in annual revenues.


Mr. Smith held the position of Chief Financial Officer for a high growth, $50 million in annual revenues medical device manufacturing company. Mr. Smith negotiated the acquisition of several companies, turning the subsidiaries into profitable operations. He also funded the development and growth of the Company through raising a series of equity and debt financing's. He was responsible for all aspects of worldwide company management, including: finance, operations, business development, and significant areas of distribution and sales. Mr. Smith was instrumental in the sale of the Company to a U.S. publicly traded medical device manufacturer.


Randy started his career as an auditor with a “Big Four” CPA firm, achieving the title of Senior Audit Manager. His primary focus was on manufacturing, technology, life science and software companies. He managed several initial public offerings and two $300 million public bond offerings. Clients included Revlon, Emerson Electric, Applied Microcircuits Corporation, National Health Laboratories and the Jack in the Box chain of restaurants.


Mr. Smith served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Venture Group and is a past member of the Financial Executives Institute. Speaking engagements have included "Going Public: How and Why", "The Ten Commandments of Venture Capital" and "How Investors Value Start-Up Companies".
